Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela Square
I arrived in Johannesburg, just as Nelson Mandela was admitted to the hospital.  He is 92 years old so it is not terribly surprising for him to be admitted to the hospital but it was all that was talked about on TV, in the newspapers and by people on the street. 
 In the USA we think of him as a political leader but he is much more to the people of South Africa.  He is like Princess Diana for Britain or Gandhi for India.  He is loved, almost worshiped and definitely larger than life.
